Hello!
How are you? We've been doing a lot of fun activities lately! We've gone ice skating on frozen lakes, we've been skiing, dancing, playing piano, and we walked in an old train tunnel that trains don't run through anymore! We've been having lots of fun doing all these things!
Ice skating was fun! But, I was really freaked out on the last lake we skated on. The most recent lake we skated on is Donner Lake, and the other lake is Cascade Lake. At Cascade Lake, there was a short little hike in to reach the lake. The lake was totally safe, but in the beginning I was a little scared because it was the first time I had ever skated on a frozen lake before. Once I got a little bit more comfortable with skating, I had a really fun time, but when we went on Donner Lake, it was a whole other story. The ice was thick and everything was completely safe, but the wind was blowing really hard. When it was blowing against me, I had a hard time fighting the wind to move forward, and when I went with the wind, I went soooo fast that the only way I could stop myself was to fall down. I was kinda freaked out, and I felt really out of control. So, my dad and I went and sat down and took a break. I didn't skate any more after that.
After we were done ice skating, we walked through these really cool abandoned train tunnels! There were some really big icicles, and the bottom of the tunnel (the part we were walking on) was like a big sheet of ice! It was really dark, so we got to use flashlights! The coolest thing about the darkness, is that the part where the tunnel ended had light shining through. It looked soooooooo cool! It was so amazing, and I can't wait to go there again.
Skiing is really awesome! I've had lots of fun skiing! It is really amazing that if you put your skis on, you can just go right down the hill! The first couple days, I just stayed on the Kiddy, and Bunny Hills. Those hills do not have a normal chair lift, they have some other kind of contraption that pulls you up. After the first couple days, I rode the chair lift for the first time! At first I was really scared because I didn't know what to except, but now I love skiing! Riding the chair lift is actually quite fun! I've gone on 8 different runs so far, and I've been having lots of fun! Skiing is a super fun sport! We are super lucky to have our friend Peter to teach us how to ski. He has been such a great teacher, and I feel very much like I'm in control of my skis, and that is a great feeling! I'm super glad that I have the opportunity to ski!
